Golden Horse Fund Management is one of the fastest growing fund management companies in Asia. We began our humble journey in 2015, starting with SGD 2 million of assets under management. As a fund management company, we are regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

At Golden Horse, we seek to conquer the mathematics and data analytics of financial markets and build a world-class research environment to optimally improve and fine-tune our strategies. We employ proprietary statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze large volumes of data to actively rebalance our portfolio allocation.

Our team is trusted for our strong operational capabilities and error-free execution and has more than 50 years of combined financial services experience. We have developed a strong relationship with our selected group of clients that includes state-owned companies, private enterprises and high-net worth individuals, which is made possible by our independence & objectivity, integrity, and loyalty & aligned interests.

Lawrence Chen - Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Lawrence Chen is the Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Golden Horse Fund Management, a Registered Fund Management Company regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Under his leadership, the firm has been recognized as one of the most consistent and best performing hedge funds in Asia.

He has almost 20 years of investment experience and has been involved in all phases of investing businesses across asset classes, from hedge fund solutions, private equity, credit, infrastructure/real estate and investment banking.

He is an active member of Business China launched by Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew in the mission to nurture an inclusive bilingual and bicultural group of Singaporeans to strengthen the ties between Singapore and China.

Mr. Lawrence Chen graduated with a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Lim Nengli - Managing Director (Portfolio Manager)

Dr. Lim Nengli is a Portfolio Manager at Golden Horse Fund Management, constructing quantitative models and strategies based on machine learning and stochastic modelling.

He received his Ph.D. in Mathematical Finance at Imperial College London, and has previously studied in Princeton University (M.A.), the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University (M.S.), and the University of California, Berkeley (B.A.).

Dr. Lim served as an Assistant Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and has many years of research experience, having also worked before in A*STAR, Defence Science National Laboratories (DSO) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He has notable publications in journals such as the Annals of Probability, Quantitative Finance and ECCV (European Conference on Computer Vision), and was awarded the Yael Naim Dowker Centenary Prize for best mathematics Ph.D. thesis in Imperial College London (2016).

Li Xiaoman - Investment Associate (Data Scientist)

Ms. Li Xiaoman is a Data Scientist at Golden Horse Fund Management, in charge of market research, data processing, strategy backtesting, and trade execution.

She holds a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from National University of Singapore, where she received comprehensive training in statistics, mathematics and firsthand working knowledge in financial market, risk management and quantitative analysis. She has exposures to various quantitative research projects, including volatility expansion strategy on Forex futures, alpha generation by volatility managed portfolio, spread option pricing, etc.

She was a scholar from People’s Republic of China under Singapore Ministry of Education’s Senior Middle School Scholarship programme for undergraduate study. Before her master program, she worked as software developer in a leading Japanese ERP solution provider and awarded star performer with outstanding contributions.

Ashton Tan - Senior Portfolio Advisor

Mr. Ashton Tan is a Senior Portfolio Advisor at Golden Horse Fund Management, spearheading business development, capital raising and investor relations efforts.

His expertise is within business development and relationship management and brings with him experience in leading successful initiatives, focusing on nurturing existing relationships with clients whilst continually seeking new business opportunities.

Prior to joining GHFM, Ashton started his career in banking where he was rotated across different roles and pioneered new teams in the asset management and corporate wealth segments. His past work spans across the financial services, payments, credit analysis, big data and capital markets.

Ashton holds a Bachelor of Business Management, majoring in Finance and Management from Singapore Management University.

Miranti W Rostian - Senior Portfolio Advisor

Ms. Miranti W Rostian is a Senior Portfolio Advisor at Golden Horse Fund Management where she manages fundraising, business development, and investor relations initiatives.

She joined the firm with over a decade of experience in Asian Rates and Credits, particularly on Indonesian fixed income instruments, serving institutional investors in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining GHFM, Miranti worked for Mandiri Securities, the largest Indonesian state-owned securities firm in their Jakarta and Singapore offices.

Miranti holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from National University of Singapore and a Bachelors in Economics from Universitas Indonesia.

She is a Bahasa Indonesia native speaker.

Phyu Phyu Kyaw - Fund Operations Manager

Ms. Phyu Phyu Kyaw has over a decade of hedge fund administration, financial accounting, and investment compliance experience.

Prior to Golden Horse, Ms. Phyu specialized in providing fund administrative support such as NAV computation, client reporting and compliance reporting in Apex Fund Services (S) Pte Ltd and an independent asset management firm.

At Golden Horse, Ms. Phyu is responsible for the management of the middle and back office functions which include corporate and fund governance, risk management, internal and external audit functions as well as the funds’ day-to-day operations.

Phyu holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Banking and Finance from University of London.

James Kattan - Independent Director

Mr. James Kattan serves as an Independent Director with Golden Horse Fund Management. He also works at DMS Governance Ltd. (DMS) where he oversees fund governance for private investment funds with a wide variety of structures and strategies.

Prior to joining DMS, Mr. Kattan was a director at Home Loan Servicing Solutions (Nasdaq: HLSS) where he led the company’s SOX, internal audit and vendor oversight programs, and provided oversight of the company’s quarterly and annual financial reporting processes including valuation of its multi-billion dollar portfolio of level 3 assets.

Previously, Mr. Kattan was a senior manager at KPMG Cayman Islands where he was responsible for overseeing the audits of a portfolio of hedge funds. Further to his auditing responsibilities, he led various operational quality and efficiency initiatives, and managed the firm’s technical knowledge network.

Mr. Kattan is a Registered Director with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, and is a member of the Cayman Islands Directors Association, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham.

Lim Ming Yang - Venture Partner

Mr. Lim Ming Yang is the Venture Partner at Golden Horse Fund Management. He has over 14 years of experience across priority banking, private banking, asset management and financial consulting.

Prior to joining Golden Horse Fund Management, Mr. Lim was a Director at a single-family office overseeing US$200 million in assets. In addition to overseeing the investments in bonds, equities and funds, Mr. Lim was also responsible for exploring investment opportunities in commercial real estate. He was also a financial consultant with Yian Poh Associates, advising companies on matters such as loans, possible listing strategies and joint ventures.

Mr. Lim started his career in Citibank International Priority Bank before being headhunted as a private banker at Bank Julius Baer (Singapore) managing a portfolio of US$60 million. He was on the team responsible for establishing the Singapore branch of Bank Julius Baer, focusing mainly on setting up the front office operations. Mr. Lim was also instrumental in crafting the bank’s account opening documents and providing training for incoming private bankers.

Mr. Lim earned his Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of California, Berkeley.
